Attorney Kate DunningtonTo Kate Dunnington, there’s more to serving clients than giving sound legal guidance. There’s also the more human side of providing emotional support for them during difficult times.

“A lot of times people are angry about the situation they’re in, and they’re nervous about what’s going to happen,” she says. “The part I like most about my work is just talking with these people, connecting with them, and putting myself in their shoes as best I can. I try to help and direct them throughout the process, keep them informed and ease their minds as much as possible.”

Dunnington joined Bubalo Law PLC in the summer of 2015 and currently handles mass injury cases, as well as personal injury cases. “I am intrigued by the science involved with mass tort litigation, and am fulfilled by helping people who have suffered due to the use of pharmaceuticals.”

It’s very gratifying to me when I’m able to help.

A native of Elizabethtown, Dunnington gained insightful information into the medical field while working for a local physician during high school and her early undergraduate years. She was a pre-med student at the University of Louisville, receiving a B.S. degree in 2008 before attending law school. I had an interest and calling toward the field of law, but always intended to practice in an area that involved science and medicine.

Dunnington was previously with the Becker Law Office where she worked on a wide range of personal injury cases, including auto accidents, premises liability, medical negligence and nursing home negligence. She received her J.D. in 2011 from the University of Louisville’s Louis D. Brandeis School of Law and clerked during her final year at a personal injury firm. While there, she became convinced that representing injured individuals was what she wanted to do.

The part I like most about my work is just talking with these people, connecting with them, and putting myself in their shoes as best I can. I try to help and direct them throughout the process, keep them informed and ease their minds as much as possible.

“They are a great team that worked hard for me and my family. Thanks for being there for us.” Continue reading

“Most of the people who come to you haven’t been through something like this before,” she says. “They’re just going about their day and all of a sudden everything changed. They’re hurt and they’re stressed and don’t know what to do about it. It’s very gratifying to me when I’m able to help.”

Dunnington is active in the legal community as a member of several state and local bar associations, including the Kentucky, Indiana State and Louisville Bar Associations. She is a member of the American Association for Justice, Kentucky Justice Association, American Bar Association and Women Lawyer’s Association of Jefferson County.
