The experienced car accident attorneys at Bubalo Law PLC understand how disruptive an accident can be for your life and your livelihood. If you’ve been seriously hurt, your recovery can be a lengthy ordeal and even simple everyday tasks can be difficult. You may be experiencing financial stress as well. Trying to deal with insurance companies during such a time can be extremely frustrating. Insurance companies want to pay as little on each claim as possible. Our auto accident injury attorneys are here to help you get things back on track by handling everything related to your case. Our attorneys can:

  • Investigate the accident. Our attorneys will work with local authorities, investigators, and experts to figure out what happened and who was at fault.
  • Provide coordination. Coordinate with local authorities, insurance adjusters, and crash scene experts. We’ll handle communications and coordination so that you can focus on healing.
  • Determine liability. Once the investigation is complete, we’ll help determine who was at fault and their responsibilities. This could include drivers but may also involve third-parties such as equipment and car manufacturers. A car accident can be caused by more than just drivers.
  • Evaluate your injuries and losses. Injuries can be physical or mental. We’ll review your medical records. We’ll compile your treatment and rehabilitation expenses, work with medical experts to determine future treatment needs, and help determine how much compensation you should seek for your losses.
  • Negotiate with insurance companies. We will submit a demand letter to the appropriate insurance companies and try to negotiate a settlement for full compensation. Our business is representing you. With diligence, preparation, and experience, we’ll work to secure you the maximum possible amount of compensation.
  • Litigate your case if needed. In most cases, car accident injury claims can be settled without a trial. However, in some cases, the insurer refuses to agree to a reasonable settlement. When that occurs, our attorneys are ready to fight for you. At Bubalo Law PLC, our attorneys are experienced trial lawyers and have years of experience handling every aspect of litigation. When a car accident case must go to court, we have the skill and the knowledge to win.

After a car crash caused by another driver’s negligence, you may be entitled to different forms of compensation. The types and amounts of compensation will depend upon the facts of your case. They include:

  • Medical expenses including surgery, physical therapy, medication, and other treatment. Medical treatment can be extraordinarily expensive. If you’re hurt in a car accident, you may be entitled to the costs of medical treatment for your injuries and the cost of treatment in the future. This includes physical therapy, procedures, and other costs that you may incur.
  • Lost wages and reduced earning capacity. When you’re injured in an accident you may be out of work for weeks, months, or even the rest of your life. Your claim can include these lost wages and reduced earning capacity in the future. Our attorney can work with you to determine how your injuries have affected your earnings, and how much your injuries may cost you in the future.
  • Property damage. Car accidents can damage or destroy the vehicle. They can also damage and destroy your belongings inside. We’ll seek compensation so that you can replace or repair your vehicle and the contents that were damaged in the accident.
  • Pain and suffering. Physical injuries can cause chronic pain that lasts for years or the rest of your life. Accidents also can cause mental pain that can take a toll on the quality of your life or your ability to earn a living. Serious complications can arise from a car accident including depression, insomnia, anxiety, and many other severe problems. If you’ve been seriously injured, you may be entitled to compensation for the pain and suffering.
  • Punitive damages. Punitive damages are awarded in special circumstances where the at-fault parties’ conduct was exceptionally reckless. Punitive damages exist to punish the person responsible and to set an example for others. An attorney can help you understand whether punitive damages may be available in your case.

Our attorneys can review the details of your accident and injuries and determine what types of compensation may be available in your particular case.

This will depend on where the accident takes place. Each state has laws specifying how much time you have to bring a personal injury lawsuit. Known as the “statute of limitations”, these limits on time are strictly enforced.

The statute of limitations for an auto accident in some states is only one year. A year can seem like a long time to get your case together, but it is not much time at all. Crash investigations, gathering medical bills, negotiating with insurers, and many other tasks are involved in making your claim. They take more time than you may think. The more time you and your attorney have to prepare, the better position you will be in to submit a strong claim. Contact an attorney as soon as you can after an accident.

At Bubalo Law PLC, if you’re injured in a car accident, we can help. Our auto crash attorneys handle a wide range of car accident cases. We focus on helping car crash victims recover from serious accidents caused by the carelessness or negligence of others. The types of auto accident cases we handle include:

Drunk driving or driving under the influence of drugs

In 2016, alcohol-impaired driving crashes accounted for 28 percent of all traffic-related deaths in the United States, according to the CDC. At Bubalo Law PLC, we are committed to holding drunk and drugged drivers, and businesses that overserve these individuals, accountable for the injuries they cause and helping accident victims recover full compensation to rebuild their lives.

Inattention / Distracted Driving

Distractions are common on the roads. Cell phones, in-vehicle entertainment systems, and other electronic devices vie for attention. Food, drinks, and other people in the car also can distract drivers at a critical moment. According to a study conducted by the University of Michigan, a quarter of teens respond to a text message once or more every time they drive. Twenty percent of teens and ten percent of parents admit they have extended, multi-message text conversations while driving. If you’re been injured by a distracted driver, our distracted driving accident attorneys may be able to help you pursue compensation.

Fatigued / Drowsy Driving

Tired drivers are dangerous drivers. The AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety estimates that 21 percent of fatal motor vehicle crashes involve driver fatigue. One-third of crashes involving a drowsy driver also result in injuries.

Aggressive driving

This includes speeding, tailgating, improper passing, running stop signs and lights, frequent lane changes, and other dangerous driving behavior. Some people don’t follow traffic rules or respect others on the road. It usually ends in preventable accidents. If you’ve been injured by an aggressive driver, the attorneys at Bubalo Law PLC are available to help.

After a crash, you may be dazed and hurt. If anyone else is injured, contact emergency responders and request an ambulance. If your injuries are manageable until help arrives, the following tips can help you protect your rights and your claim.

After an accident:

  • Exchange contact, insurance, and other information with other parties involved. Emotions may be running high, but it is important to remain calm. At this stage, it’s still unclear what happened. There may be contributing factors to the accident that are not apparent, so do not assume responsibility and do not blame others for the accident.
  • Collect the contact information of any witnesses to the accident. Witnesses often assume that someone else will step up to help police and investigators. People with important accounts of what occurred may leave the scene before responders show up. If you are involved in an accident, make sure that you collect the contact information of witnesses before they drive off.
  • Do not assume that you know what caused the accident. Accidents happen so quickly that it’s easy to make inaccurate assumptions about the cause. When speaking with police and other parties, give the facts you know are true and do not blame anyone for the accident, including yourself.
  • Write down important information about the accident including the time and date of the accident as well as the location. Also write down key information about vehicles involved including make, model, and plate numbers. An accident can be overwhelming, so the more you can get down on paper, the better.
  • Photograph the accident scene. Photos of the accident scene can help investigators understand how the crash occurred. Skid marks, debris locations, stop signs blocked by overgrown vegetation, and other key details will help tell a story about what happened. These photos will also show who was there and what they were doing. Don’t wait to take photos at a later date and time. If you can take photos immediately after an accident, it’s best to do so.
  • See a doctor or medical specialist for an evaluation. If your injuries did not require emergency transportation, get in for a medical evaluation even if you’re feeling okay. Some injuries take time before they manifest. The evaluation will find and document any problems from the accident. These records will be very important when trying to recover for your injuries.
  • Do not discuss the details of your accident or your injuries on social media. If your claim is contested, the other side will look for statements they can use against you. Don’t make their job easier. Posting photos on Facebook or other social media of the vacation you took two weeks after your accident can undermine a claim that you were seriously injured in the accident. Keep the details of the accident and your health to yourself.
  • Contact an attorney to review the details of your accident and discuss whether you have a valid personal injury claim. The attorney will help you understand the next step to take.
